Our reading instruction has several components. First, reading strategies are taught through the use of read alouds and minilessons. Students are expected to use these strategies during independent reading. In addition, students should always write their thoughts about their reading in their double entry journal. Students will participate in guided reading groups, which will focus on specific reading needs of the students. Finally, I will meet with students individually to discuss their reading.
In order to assess student progress, I have developed several grading rubrics, which are listed below.
